The Corning Bobcats on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Gosnell Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Corning earned a 45-37 victory over Harrisburg. Given Corning's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Harrisburg is ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gosnell posted their biggest win yet this season last Thursday. They claimed a resounding 78-40 victory over Piggott on the road.
Corning has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Gosnell, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8.
Everything came up roses for Corning against Gosnell when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 102-67 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Corning since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
