Basketball Recap: Calvary Chapel Academy Takes a Loss

Calvary Chapel Academy lost against Melbourne Central Catholic two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles lost to the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers on the road by a 66-49 margin. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Despite the loss, Calvary Chapel Academy still got an impressive performance from Ephram Welsh, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Welsh is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caleb Welsh, who posted 15 points.

Melbourne Central Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tristan Hamilton, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Lane, who had 15 points and three steals.

Calvary Chapel Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

After both having extra time off, Calvary Chapel Academy and Master's Academy will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Master's Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-50 defeat against Eau Gallie on the 18th.
