North Laurel has gone a perfect 6-0 against Leslie County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Jaguars will host the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. North Laurel will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.
North Laurel is returning to their home field after beating Madison Southern on theirs, despite the fact Madison Southern has dominated at home this season. The Jaguars were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over the Eagles on Tuesday. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.
North Laurel got a massive performance out of Presley Griffin, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs Griffin has posted since back in March. Emma Carl was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
North Laurel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison Southern only posted an OBP of .414.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Leslie County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Breathitt County 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 14th.
Emily Caldwell spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Maddi Coots was a standout: she fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Turner, who went 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, one triple, and one run.
North Laurel's victory bumped their record up to 26-2. As for Leslie County, their win bumped their record up to 16-11.
North Laurel was able to grind out a solid victory over Leslie County when the teams last played back in March, winning 5-0. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
