Red Mountain is a perfect 10-0 against Dobson since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Red Mountain Mountain Lions will take on the Dobson Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. Red Mountain will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Red Mountain needed a bit of extra time to put away Williams Field. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Black Hawks, sneaking past 8-7. That's two games straight that the Mountain Lions have won by just one run.
Jimmy McCarthy looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Derek Wilson was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Cyrus Ellington also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Dobson came up short against Tolleson on Thursday, falling 10-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost four in a row.
Jake Dobson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Aaron Mutascio was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Red Mountain's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Dobson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Red Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Dobson struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Red Mountain's way against Dobson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Red Mountain made off with a 13-3 win. Will Red Mountain repeat their success, or does Dobson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
