Baseball Recap: Pahokee Triumphs

Pahokee won the last time they faced Inlet Grove and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Blue Devils walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Hurricanes. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Isaac Sarmiento was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Tiyler Rothstein and Markevious Perry did most of the damage at the plate: Rothstein got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Perry went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Rothstein has become a key player for Pahokee: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Timothy Tidmore also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Pahokee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Inlet Grove only posted an OBP of .424.

Pahokee's record is now 7-9. As for Inlet Grove, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pahokee will face off against Glades Day at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Inlet Grove, they will challenge Glades Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.71 runs per game on average), something the Hurricanes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
