Heritage Christian Academy has gone a perfect 4-0 against Community Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lions will square off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Heritage Christian Academy has given up an average of 52 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Heritage Christian Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 44 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Harvest Christian Academy on Friday. They took a blow against the Saints, falling 66-13. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.
Meanwhile, Community Christian put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 54-6 victory over Non Varsity Opponent. The Warriors' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Heritage Christian Academy better keep an eye on Hayden Yelverton. He was instrumental in Community Christian's win, rushing for 87 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Parker Dehls also helped with two scores in total.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Community Christian, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Dehls, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Community Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Dehls picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Community Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Heritage Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Everything came up roses for Heritage Christian Academy against Community Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, as the team secured a 69-24 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Warriors' Garen Terry, who rushed for 85 yards and one TD, and also picked up 31 receiving yards.
