Section 9 AA-I recap September 10, 2013
Pine Bush's Dylan Eller recorded the longest rushing play in Section 9 AA-I this season in his game against Cornwall Central last week. Eller's team beat the Dragons as he sprinted for 68 yards on the play and finished with 214 in all.
Middletown scaled the state rankings by moving to 156 from 266 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Middie Bears were able to make move up by defeating Washingtonville 21-14.
Eller provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Pine Bush bested Cornwall Central.
Artie Econom was the best wideout in the league this week as James Wright's team topped Marcus Hughes' team.
Eller was the best running back in Section 9 AA-I this week. Mike Martin also contributed to the rushing game with 172 yards on the ground.
Eller was a beast in the backfield as the Bushmen defeated the Dragons.
Kevin Carr put up the best numbers in passing as Monroe-Woodbury defeated St. Francis Prep. He had a total of 7 completions for 70 yards. Carr's favorite target this week was Ricky Giraldo, who caught 3 passes for 27 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Crusaders' Carr and Giraldo have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback Carr has thrown for 70 yards this season, while Giraldo has 3 catches for 27 yards. Eller from Pine Bush leads the league in rushing with 214 yards.
Newburgh Free Academy was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Iona Prep. The Goldbacks came in at 16 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.
