The South Pointe Stallions waltzed into their contest Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They escaped with a win against Patrick Henry by the margin of a single free throw, 59-58. Given South Pointe's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked sixth in South Carolina, while Patrick Henry is ranked 69th in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Pointe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Victoria Morris, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Woods, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
South Pointe's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Patrick Henry, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
South Pointe won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hillgrove at 2:30 p.m. on December 21st. Hillgrove is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Patrick Henry will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pulaski County at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
