The Tipton Blue Devils will challenge the Lapel Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Tipton: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Lapel has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Tipton turned things around against Maconaquah on Monday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 62-61 victory over the Braves.
It was another big night for Grady Carpenter, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Tipton's points. Another player making a difference was Landon Spidel, who made all 6 shots he took for 14 points and six boards.
Meanwhile, Lapel didn't have too much trouble with Oak Hill on Saturday as they won 66-51.
Lapel's win came from a few key players Tipton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brode B Judge, who went 10 of 21 en route to 29 points and eight rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Quinn Wilkins was another key player, going 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points along with eight assists and seven boards.
Lapel was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Hill only racked up 12 assists.
Lapel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points per game. As for Tipton, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Tipton and Lapel are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Tipton hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.8 points per game. However, it's not like Lapel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 62.4 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Tipton came up short against Lapel in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 67-56. Will Tipton have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
