Delaware Military Academy has gone a perfect 6-0 against First State Military Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Seahawks will venture away from home to square off against the Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. Delaware Military Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so First State Military Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Delaware Military Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Caesar Rodney, who was ranked seventh at the time (Delaware Military Academy was ranked 11th). The Seahawks took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Riders on Saturday. The Seahawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for First State Military Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Dickinson with a sharp 10-1 win on Monday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Steven Bright and Maddox Holland made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Bright didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Holland tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bright has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Bright got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Holland went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. First State Military Academy is undefeated when Bright posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaron Black, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Caden Allaband also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
First State Military Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Delaware Military Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Everything went Delaware Military Academy's way against First State Military Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Delaware Military Academy made off with a 23-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seahawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
