After a string of four wins, the George Walton Academy Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeview Academy. George Walton Academy has not had much luck with Lakeview Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leila Mathis, who scored 12 points. Catherine Atkinson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
George Walton Academy's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-3. As for Lakeview Academy, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. George Walton Academy will take on Bethlehem Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully George Walton Academy is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bethlehem Christian Academy in Georgia (George Walton Academy is ranked 28th, while Bethlehem Christian Academy is ranked 318th). As for Lakeview Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Loganville Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th.
