North Miami Beach has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Edison Red Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. North Miami Beach's defense has only allowed 26.9 points per game this season, so Edison's offense will have their work cut out for Edison.
Last Friday, North Miami Beach came up short against Dr. Krop and fell 46-35. While losing is never fun, North Miami Beach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Dr. Krop is ranked 94th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Laila Henderson, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds. She scored a full 25.7% of North Miami Beach's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanejia Bryant, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Edison scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Carol City, posting a 49-13 victory at home. The victory was just what Edison needed coming off of a 68-8 defeat in their prior game.
North Miami Beach's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Edison, their win bumped their record up to 1-2-1.
North Miami Beach won a match that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January, slipping by Edison 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Miami Beach since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
