The Omaha Northwest Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 78-51 loss at the hands of Jefferson. While losing is never fun, Omaha Northwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 209th in Nebraska, while Jefferson is ranked 26th in Iowa).
Despite the loss, Omaha Northwest still got an impressive performance from Chiok John, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Crawford, who scored eight points.
Jayden Calabro continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Jefferson, dropping a double-double on 51 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Calabro has scored all season. Jaden Dewaele was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Omaha Northwest has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Jefferson, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.
Omaha Northwest will head out on the road to challenge Omaha South at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Omaha Northwest is coming into the match with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Omaha South will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Jefferson, they will take on Bishop Heelan Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jefferson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 70.7 points per game this season.
