Brookfield scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Bunnell, 33-18. At the time, the Bulldogs was ranked 20th in the state, while the Bobcats was 61st.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Bunnell, who took down 20th ranked Bunnell, 33-18. Brad Westmark threw for 391 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 15 yards in the win.
Bryan Castelot threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns. He went 19-43 with two interceptions.
Alex Lockwood was the most productive running back in Southwest this week. He ran for 225 yards on four carries as Barlow topped Craig Bruno's team. Teammate Steve Miller added to the ground attack by rushing for 91 yards.
Nick was the best wideout in the league this week as Rich Angarano's team bested the Bulldogs. Nick tallied eight receptions for 143 yards. Boeing Brown helped Brookfield's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 121 yards.
Bunnell's Castelot and Devante Teel have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Castelot has thrown for 711 yards this season, while Teel, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 14 catches for 323 yards. New Fairfield's Joe Pacheco leads the league in rushing yards with 431.
A big matchup in Southwest this week will be when Stratford takes on Newtown. At the moment, the Red Devils are in sixth, while the Nighthawks are in second.
The Falcons' Lockwood rumbled for the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Bethel last week.
