Avon is 0-10 against the Bulldogs since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Avon Eagles will be staying on the road to face off against the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Avon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 16th).
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Avon, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-38 loss to the Rangers. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Avon in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now lost three in a row.
Avon might have lost, but man, Molly Drenik was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Drenik has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. Makenzie Ptacek was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Olmsted Falls waltzed into their match on Wednesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with a 56-46 win over Cathedral Prep.
Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Olmsted Falls, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3.
Avon suffered a grim 49-27 defeat to the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in January. Can Avon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
