The Olentangy Braves put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 58-45 victory over Westerville Central. Given Olentangy's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Westerville Central is ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Olentangy was led to victory by Chayla Rankin and Sydney Mobley. Rankin scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Mobley dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was Mobley's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Whitney Stafford was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 13 rebounds.
Olentangy's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Westerville Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Olentangy will play host again and welcome Olentangy Orange, where tip off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Westerville Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Chillicothe at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
