Littlefield had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lamesa Tornadoes, sneaking past 49-47. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Several Tornadoes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deev Lugo, who rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 60 receiving yards. Lugo showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 62 yards. Daniel Ramos was another key passer, throwing for 330 yards and five TDs.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Littlefield will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Denver City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lamesa, they will host Muleshoe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
