Marion-Franklin hasn't had much luck against Briggs recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Marion-Franklin had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Bishop Hartley put an end to it on Tuesday. The Red Devils lost 20-2 to the Hawks.
Meanwhile, Briggs strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Independence as they made off with a 20-1 win. The matchup marked the Bruins' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Maddy Glenn made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Briggs let Jasmine Truss and Rilee Flowers run wild. Truss went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Flowers went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Truss is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season. Jessica Jimmy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Briggs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Briggs' win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Marion-Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Marion-Franklin couldn't quite get it done against Briggs in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 7-3. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
