Nevada Union is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will welcome the Twelve Bridges Raging Rhinos at 7:30 p.m.
On Friday, Nevada Union was just a hair shy of victory and fell 19-18 to Antioch. The Miners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rhyder Eelkema
09/26/25 @ Antioch | 143 |
09/12/25 vs Casa Roble | 148 |
09/05/25 @ Christian Brothers | 131 |
08/29/25 vs Bella Vista | 182 |
Nevada Union might have lost, but man, Rhyder Eelkema was a machine: he rushed for 143 yards and one touchdown. Eelkema's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 131 rushing yards.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 1.4 yards per carry. While three picked up at least eight total tackles, Daniel Demario stood above the rest. He forced one fumble, made eight total tackles, and defended one pass. Nevada Union's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.2.
Meanwhile, Twelve Bridges put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Destiny Christian Academy by a score of 38-30. Those 38 points were actually the fewest the Raging Rhinos have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Twelve Bridges' win came from a few key players Nevada Union will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chase Wyhlidko, who rushed for 210 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 55 receiving yards. Those 210 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Connor Frontiera was another key player, throwing for 268 yards and three TDs.
Twelve Bridges' win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Nevada Union, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Nevada Union has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 306.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Twelve Bridges struggles in that department as they've been averaging 291.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Nevada Union was dealt a bruising 55-7 loss at the hands of Twelve Bridges in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Miners have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
