The Lake Charles College Prep Trailblazers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They lost to Iowa at home by a decisive 36-22 margin. Lake Charles College Prep lost against Iowa in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 17-16 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Lake Charles College Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elijah Garrick. Despite the final result, he picked up 121 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Iowa had a senior duo take command as Cole Corbello gained 138 total yards and three touchdowns and Josiah Bushnell rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Bushnell was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards.
Lake Charles College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Iowa, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Lake Charles College Prep will head out on the road to face off against Jennings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jennings will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Iowa, they will be playing at home against St. Louis Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Louis Catholic is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
