The Boardman Spartans won the last time they faced the Memorial Red Devils, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Boardman came out on top against Memorial by a score of 50-40. Given Boardman's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Memorial is ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Boardman was led to victory by Terrell Mcdowell and Zach Haus. Mcdowell scored 12 points, while Haus scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals. Nico Holzschuh was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Memorial lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being David Moore, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josue Rodriguez, who scored 12 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Boardman and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Poland Seminary the next time they take the court. Memorial will head out to face Poland Seminary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Boardman will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
