McCutcheon dropped to 7-6 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs by a score of 9-7. If the Mavericks were looking for revenge after losing 12-11 to the Grizzly Cubs when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
McCutcheon saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malikia Alois, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Alois also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Emma Wykoff was another, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Franklin Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.
On Franklin Community's side, Annabelle Richter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Richter has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Addie Martin and Mia Stimac did most of the damage at the plate: Martin went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Stimac got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Stimac a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexi Martin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
McCutcheon has already played their next contest, a 13-11 victory against Cascade on the 2nd. As for Franklin Community, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 12-5 defeat against Franklin Central on the 2nd.
