The Hinsdale Central Red Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Oak Lawn Spartans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Hinsdale Central's last matchup with Lyons could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Red Devils lost 10-0 to the Lions. The loss continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Oak Lawn got the win against Crete-Monee on Friday by a conclusive 18-2. Considering the Spartans have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Aleksandria Blanco was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamya Feigl, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Katie Casey was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Oak Lawn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Oak Lawn has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Hinsdale Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Hinsdale Central might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from Oak Lawn when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
