The Warsaw Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Eldon on the road by a decisive 78-60 margin. While losing is never fun, Warsaw can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Eldon is ranked 96th).
When it comes to explaining why Warsaw lost, one person who can't be blamed is Logan Gemes. Despite the final result, he shot 4-for-9 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Shane Poyser, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Warsaw were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Warsaw's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-7. As for Eldon, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warsaw will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Stover at 12:00 p.m. on December 21st. As for Eldon, they will face off against Mountain Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
