Sadly, the Carson City-Crystal Eagles are still looking for their first win of the season after 14 matches. They took a serious blow against St. Charles on Wednesday, falling 64-20. Carson City-Crystal has not had much luck with St. Charles recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
St. Charles was led to victory by Allison Zelinko and Emily Zelinko. Zelinko dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Zelinko almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine steals. Zelinko is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Kylie Fiting was another key contributor, scoring two points along with four steals.
Carson City-Crystal's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-14. As for St. Charles, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Carson City-Crystal is on the road again on Friday and plays Ashley at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Carson City-Crystal comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for St. Charles, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fulton at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully St. Charles focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
