Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Napoleon walked away with it. They blew past the Lake Flyers 14-2 on Friday. Considering the Wildcats have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Napoleon let Parker Woods and Owen Espinoza run wild. Woods went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Espinoza went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits Woods has posted since back in April. Mason Trausch was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Napoleon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matches.
Napoleon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lake, they moved to 20-6 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
Napoleon will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Flyers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
