Basketball Game Preview: Hattiesburg HomeSchool Forerunners vs. Meridian HomeSchool FLYERS

Hattiesburg HomeSchool is 9-1 against Meridian HomeSchool since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hattiesburg HomeSchool Forerunners will square off against the Meridian HomeSchool FLYERS at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They rang in the new year with a 72-61 victory over Varsity Opponent on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Forerunners as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool found their leader in sophomore Keller Russell, who went 15 of 23 on his way to 30 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Russell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Cotton, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Meridian HomeSchool was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 103-61 loss at the hands of Muddy River HomeSchool. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in November of 2024 (59), the FLYERS still had to take the loss.

Meridian HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Hattiesburg HomeSchool, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool came up short against Meridian HomeSchool in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 55-49. Can Hattiesburg HomeSchool avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
