Bishop Carroll hasn't had much luck against Penn Cambria recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Huskies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Bishop Carroll has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Bishop Carroll's offense. They came up short against Somerset on Thursday, falling 14-0. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bishop Carroll saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cory Franceschini, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Penn Cambria ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against Bishop McCort by a score of 13-8. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Caden Gibbons and Preston Farabaugh were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Gibbons tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Farabaugh didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more, Gibbons posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Gibbons went 2-for-4 with two runs, while Farabaugh got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Mason Mento was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Corbin Vinglish, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Penn Cambria kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
Bishop Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Penn Cambria, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Bishop Carroll skirted past Penn Cambria 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
