Baseball Recap: Chippewa Valley Has No Trouble Against Bay City Western

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mattawan, Chippewa Valley was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Bay City Western Warriors as they made off with a 10-3 victory. The Big Reds not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7th (when they won 12-0).

Payton Coldicott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Ben Green looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Nate Hall was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Landon Simpson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Chippewa Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bay City Western only posted a batting average of .222.

Chippewa Valley's record is now 16-12-2. As for Bay City Western, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-4.

Looking ahead, Chippewa Valley will welcome Cardinal Mooney Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bay City Western, they will be taking part in a tournament against Novi at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
