The Millington Central Trojans came tearing into Tuesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Brighton by a score of 69-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Millington Central was led to victory by Aubrey Young and Alana Whiten. Young scored 18 points along with two steals, while Whiten scored 21 points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Young grabbed two or more steals. Bailey Boone was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayla Jones, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Pruitt, who scored 13 points along with six assists and four steals.
Millington Central is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Brighton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-17.
