COLONY, Kan. -
Crest (Colony, Kan.) pulled away early with 22 points in the first quarter to open up a 22-point lead, paving the way to a 52-6 victory over Tyro Christian (Tyro, Kan.) on Saturday.
The Lancers were up 44-6 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter.
Crest expanded its lead to 46 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS scored two times in the third, including once on a defensive touchdown.
Zach Bush played well for the Eagles. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown. He has now scored 23 touchdowns on the season.
Kyle Hammond was the top performer for the Colony school. He ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 36 touchdowns on the season.
Tyro Christian's lone touchdown came on a 50-yard pass from Bush to Dylan McQuery in the second quarter.
The Lancers entered the contest giving up 29.8 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding TC well below its season average of 43.0 points scored per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Tyro Christian, which notched a 68-30 victory over Altoona-Midway in its previous outing. With the win CHS extended its winning streak to four games.
