Brush and Sterling are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. Both teams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Brush has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Brush scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top against Fort Morgan by a score of 39-27. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Brush has managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brush to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jocelynn Middlemist, who scored ten points. Middlemist also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Brisa Aguirre-Garcia, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Sterling lost to Rangely on the road by a decisive 50-32 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Sterling can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Rangely is ranked 31st).
Brush's victory bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Sterling, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Brush didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Sterling in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 35-31 victory. Does Brush have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sterling turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
