The Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles suffered their biggest defeat since November 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 65-29 loss at the hands of Merritt Island Christian. While losing is never fun, Calvary Chapel Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 510th, while Merritt Island Christian is ranked 200th).
Merritt Island Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaity Shea out in front who scored 29 points along with four steals and two blocks. Shea is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Keri Shea, who scored 14 points along with eight steals and five assists.
Calvary Chapel Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Merritt Island Christian, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvary Chapel Academy will take on Master's Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Merritt Island Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Viera at 6:30 p.m.
