Baseball Recap: Bishop Stang Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bishop Stang came out on top against Bishop Fenwick on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Spartans walked away with a 7-4 win over the Crusaders. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Landon Cardoza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bishop Stang's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Matt Burt, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits Burt has posted since back in April. Travis Henriques also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Bishop Stang's record now sits at 15-3. As for Bishop Fenwick, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Stang will face off against Durfee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop Fenwick, they will take on Salem at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
