Baseball Recap: River Oaks Takes a Loss

After flying high against Riverdale Academy last Saturday, River Oaks came back down to earth. The River Oaks Mustangs lost 14-7 to the Claiborne Academy Rebels on Tuesday. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rebels earlier this season, when they won 5-1.

Jayden Davis stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenton Mercer, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

River Oaks' defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Claiborne Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Oaks will square off against Briarfield Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. River Oaks is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Claiborne Academy, they will welcome Junction City at 5:00 p.m. on March 7th.
