After flying high against the Seymour Indians last Saturday, the Beardstown Tigers came back down to earth. Beardstown received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 54-35 to Father McGivney Catholic. Beardstown was down 51-29 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Leading Father McGivney Catholic to victory were Natalie Beck and Sami Oller. Beck scored 17 points along with four steals, while Oller dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Beck has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sabrina Ivnik, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Beardstown has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for Father McGivney Catholic, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beardstown will challenge Mendon Unity at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they will head out on the road to take on Carrollton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carrollton will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
