The Ohio County Eagles will face off against the Muhlenberg County Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ohio County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Ohio County and Trinity had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Raiders on Monday, sneaking past 6-5. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Raiders on their field since April 20, 2021.
The team relied heavily on Talynn Clark (2026), who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lily-Kate Hill (2026), who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Muhlenberg County). They never let McLean County get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Muhlenberg County got a massive performance out of Abry Carver, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Taylor Wilkins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Muhlenberg County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McLean County only posted an OBP of .100.
Ohio County pushed their record up to 14-10-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Muhlenberg County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-12.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ohio County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Muhlenberg County struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ohio County skirted past Muhlenberg County 3-2 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
