The Calais Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 30-17 to Woodland. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Calais has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Calais still got an impressive performance from Kate McPhee, who scored ten points. McPhee scored a full 58.8% of Calais' points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Calais' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Woodland, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calais will finish 2023 at home by hosting Sumner at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maine (Sumner is ranked 46th, while Calais is ranked 60th). Woodland will finish 2023 at home by hosting George Stevens Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. George Stevens Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
