The Dunbar Wildcats and the La Vega Pirates squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Dunbar Wildcats had to settle for second. Dunbar was the victim of a tough 42-21 loss at the hands of La Vega. While losing is never fun, Dunbar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 561st, while La Vega is ranked 197th).
Marcus Mcdade and Ja'marion Garrett certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Mcdade rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown, while Garrett rushed for 175 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Dunbar and nudges their season record down to 7-4. As for La Vega, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Dunbar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. La Vega will take on Panther Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Panther Creek is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
