Hershey has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Perkins County Plainsmen at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Hershey can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They breezed by Sutherland at home to the tune of 61-28. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-6.
Payton Jones and Emma Hall were among the main playmakers for Hershey as the former scored 12 points along with two steals and the latter scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Ali Vaughn was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Even though Perkins County has not done well against St. Patrick's recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Perkins County walked away with a 47-38 win over St. Patrick's. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Perkins County was the better team in the second half.
Perkins County's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kailee Potts, who scored 18 points along with five steals, and Libby Cole, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cole has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Fisher, who scored four points.
Hershey is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Perkins County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.
Hershey didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Perkins County in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 60-54 victory. Will Hershey repeat their success, or does Perkins County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
