The Lakeview Sailors will challenge the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lakeview will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Jamestown on Monday. The Sailors were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Muskies.
Tanner Vincent spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
On the hitting side, Jonny Husband was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in June of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Fagley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, DuBois Central Catholic never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past St. Marys 17-0. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cardinals considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Blake Pisarcik made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, DuBois Central Catholic got a massive performance out of Brayden Fox, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, four runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Aiden Snowberger, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
DuBois Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Marys only posted an OBP of .421.
Lakeview is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for DuBois Central Catholic, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lakeview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like DuBois Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
