Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Fossil Ridge's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Fossil Ridge's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Chisholm Trail Rangers with a sharp 8-1 win. Considering the Panthers have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Olivia Scott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Kendolyn Lockhart was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Yari Santiago, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Fossil Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Chisholm Trail, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14-1.

Coincidentally, Fossil Ridge and Chisholm Trail will both be playing Saginaw the next time they take the field. The Rangers will host the Rough Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
