East Sequoia recap September 24, 2013
Elijah Cunningham of Woodlake ran for the longest rushing play in East Sequoia this season against Parlier last week. Cunningham ran for 80 yards on the play and finished with 321 on the day as his team beat the Panthers.
Sierra Pacific scaled the state rankings by moving to 970 from 1,024 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Golden Bears were able to move up by topping Kennedy 36-29.
Lindsay's dynamic duo of Alex Jara and Jacob Hernandez proved tough for Shafter to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jara threw for 241 yards and 2 touchdowns and Hernandez had 98 yards receiving. Angel Cortes helped Lindsay's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 73 yards.
The Cardinals' dynamic duo of Jara and Hernandez proved to be unstoppable against the Generals, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Rueben Arreola was a key player and the best on defense this week as Granite Hills lost to Chavez. The 5-foot-11 junior.
Cunningham provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Woodlake defeated Parlier. Cunningham's key target this week was Marin Apadaca, who caught 2 passes for 27 yards.
Hernandez was the best wideout in the league this week as Lindsay topped Shafter.
Jara put up the best numbers through the air as Jesse Lira's team bested Doug Thompson's team.
Cunningham was the best running back in East Sequoia this week. John Kulick also contributed to the rushing game with 65 yards on the ground.
Cunningham was a beast in the backfield as Jose Del Rio's team topped Joe Reyes' team.
He was 14-22 with 1 interception.
The Cardinals' Jara and Gaven Mann have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jara has thrown for 719 yards this season, while Mann has 16 catches for 308 yards. The Tigers' Cunningham leads the league in rushing yards with 763.
Strathmore took down Orosi 42-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ricardo Madrigal ran for 190 yards in the win.
