3A Region III District 17 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Lorena's Harris Coleman rumbled for the longest rushing play in 3A Region III District 17 this season in his game against Groesbeck last week. Coleman's team topped the Goats as he sprinted for 53 yards on the play and finished with 174 in all.
Robinson extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Mexia, 66-28. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Lorena's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Coleman threw for 52 yards and Brian Bays had 46 yards receiving. Cole Channon helped Lorena's passing attack out by catching one ball for six yards.
Lorena's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Leopards feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Coleman has thrown for 616 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Bays has 15 catches for 343 yards. Coleman also leads the league in rushing with 638 yards.
Connally moved up to 146 from 297 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region III District 17. The Cadets climbed the ranks as a result of a 14-13 win over Alvarado.
