Basketball Recap: Frankton Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Frankton was feeling good fresh off their 63-36 takedown of Madison-Grant last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Frankton Eagles fell to the Blackford Bruins 61-56. That makes it the first time this season the Eagles have let down their home crowd.

Frankton lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brady Carmack, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. Those seven steals gave Carmack a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Bennett, who went 7 for 11 en route to 15 points and six rebounds.

Blackford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gage Baker, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 25 points and eight boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Baker has scored at least a third of Blackford's points. Another player making a difference was Mason Kitterman, who went 5 for 10 en route to 16 points and five rebounds.

Frankton's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-8. As for Blackford, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

Frankton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-37 victory against Wes-Del on the 25th. Blackford has also already played their next game, a 68-63 win against Monroe Central on the 25th.
