After a string of four wins, the Plaquemine Green Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 37-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brusly. Plaquemine was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Plaquemine still got an impressive performance from Maddison Mitchell, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Mitchell has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Londyn Christmas, who scored two points along with ten rebounds.
Plaquemine's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7. As for Brusly, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plaquemine will square off against the Bengals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belaire has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Brusly, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Indians at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Istrouma will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
