Baseball Recap: Buckhorn Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Buckhorn had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They never let the Robertson County Black Devils get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-0 on Saturday.

Parker Mayhew made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Buckhorn: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, Austin Riley was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted over his last seven matchups. Another player making a difference was Gunner Gay, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Buckhorn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Buckhorn's record now sits at 7-13. As for Robertson County, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckhorn will square off against Red Bird at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Robertson County, they will face off against Augusta at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
