The Marquez Gladiators scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Maywood Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 106-34 victory on the road. Marquez has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.
Marquez was led to victory by Lamont White Jr and Cravon Charles. White Jr almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine assists, while Charles dropped a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Charles has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Velazquez, who scored ten points along with eight assists and three steals.
Marquez pushed their record up to 18-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.2 points per game. As for Maywood Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marquez won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. Ayala has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 637 points over their last ten matchups. As for Maywood Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sotomayor is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
