The Lakeland Dreadnaughts had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Discovery 61-25 at home. The victory was just what Lakeland needed coming off of a 81-22 loss in their prior matchup.
Lakeland found their leader in underclassman Zakharia Rutledge, who scored 31 points along with 9 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Rutledge has scored at least 25% of Lakeland's points. The team also got some help courtesy of T'shyri Evans, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
Lakeland's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Discovery, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-5 record last season and are now at 1-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeland will square off against Celebration at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Discovery, they will head out on the road to face off against Mulberry at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
