Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Xavier Robinson of
Carl Albert (Midwest City) is the 2023 MaxPreps Oklahoma High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound senior running back led the Titans to a 14-0 record and second consecutive Class 5A state title.
For the season, Robinson ran 229 times for 1,789 yards and 34 touchdowns. He also grabbed a pair of touchdown receptions.
Robinson put up 200 total yards and three touchdowns in a the state championship game, a 35-14 win over Del City.
In a 58-9 win over Eisenhower (Lawton) in September, Robinson ran for a season-high 215 yards with four touchdowns. He found the end zone five times a week earlier in a win over Elk City.
In four playoff games, Robinson carried 72 times for 563 yards and seven touchdowns.
Robinson was also the 2022 MaxPreps Oklahoma Player of the Year after rushing for 2,598 yards and 39 touchdowns. He led the Titans to a 26-2 record over his last two seasons.
Regarded as one of the state's top prospects in the Class of 2024 by
247Sports, Robinson committed to Oklahoma in June.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
